On November 14, 2023, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, became a hub of cultural exploration as Ms. Adeela Saeed expertly instructed a seminar on the Chinese Calendar, Lunar Cycle, and Zodiac Wheel. Organized by Dr. Mehvish Riaz, Director of the China Study Centre at UET Lahore, the event provided a fantastic journey into Chinese cultural traditions. Ms. Saeed intricately unraveled the mysteries of the Chinese calendar, elucidating the significance of the lunar cycle and delving into the symbolic meanings behind each animal sign on the Zodiac Wheel. Dr. Mehvish Riaz, as the event organizer, highlighted the importance of cross-cultural understanding, emphasizing how such knowledge contributes to fostering cooperation. Students either drew or created zodiac wheels using chart papers. Attendees left the seminar not only with a deeper appreciation for Chinese cultural heritage but also with a broader understanding of the historical and cultural contexts that shape Chinese society.
